Looking for a fun, meaningful way to spend time with your family while giving back to your community? The Viking Fest Road Race is back for the 49th time — and it’s more than just a race. It’s a celebration of community, connection, and making a real impact right here in Poulsbo!
A Race That Gives Back
The Viking Fest Road Race isn’t just a beloved Viking Fest tradition — it’s a fundraiser that fuels Poulsbo Parks & Recreation all year long.
Every registration dollar stays local, supporting:
- Free senior fitness programs
- Adaptive trikes for inclusive recreation
- Youth sports and activities
- Community events like Summer Concerts and Spooktacular
- Improvements to local parks and trails
When you run, walk, or even cheer from the sidelines, you’re investing in your neighbors and helping keep Poulsbo active, inclusive, and connected.
A Family-Friendly Community Event
This event is designed for everyone — whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun outing with your kids.
Set along Poulsbo’s beautiful waterfront, the race is the perfect way to kick off your Viking Fest weekend with fresh air, movement, and community spirit.
Choose from a 1 Mile or 5 Mile Race!
Can’t Make It? Go Virtual!
Busy schedule? Not a runner? No problem!
The NEW Virtual Viking 5K lets you participate your way — anytime, anywhere.
Walk, run, bike, or even swim your 5K between May 1st–15th, wherever works best for you. Complete it all in one sitting or break it up! You’ll still be part of the event, still earn your medal, and still support the same amazing cause.
It’s a flexible, fun way to stay involved — even if you can’t be there on race day.
Why It Matters
This race supports over 1,200 local programs each year — including opportunities for seniors, kids, and individuals of all abilities to stay active and connected.
A participant in one of our free fitness classes shared, “I had an injury that put me in the hospital for four days. I was weakened by the injury and depressed from my stay. Senior fitness classes have helped me to get my strength back and spending time with people has helped me mentally.”
“I always leave with a positive upbeat feeling. Often provides info on upcoming events happening in our community,” stated one participant of our Senior Lifelong Fitness class.
A participant in the ABC’s of Pruning class presented by the Poulsbo Tree Board stated, “I’m thrilled we have this community resource. I’ve taken many kinds of classes over the 40 years I’ve lived here and so it’s the first place I look.”
The Tumbling Gymnastics class received positive feedback, with one parent explaining, “My daughter was really nervous to start this class and now we’ve completed two rounds! While she’s definitely made strides in learning the basics of gymnastics, I’ve been most impressed at the self-confidence she’s gained from these classes. I’m thankful there’s a resource like this available to the kids of Poulsbo!”
